Abstract


  • ·   The number of Work Force in West Sumatra was 2.55 million, an increase of 68.46 thousand people from August 2017. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) rose by 0.97 points.
  • ·   In the past year, TPT fell by 0.03 points. Judging from the level of education, the TPT for Diploma I / II / III graduates is the highest among other education levels, which is 13.07 percent.
  • ·    The working population is 2.41 million people, up by 65.48 thousand people from August 2017. 3 Sectors that experienced the highest percentage increase in the working population, namely the Provision of Accommodation and Drinking Food Sector (1.27 points), Corporate Services Sector ( 0.41 points), and the Government Administration, Defense and Compulsory Social Security Sector (0.32 points). While the 3 sectors that experienced the largest decline were the Education Services Sector (0.69 points), Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Sector (0.48 points), and Other Services Sector (0.47 points).
  • ·      A total of 1.55 million people (64.52 percent) residents work in informal activities, the percentage increases by 0.13 points compared to August 2017.
  • ·   Of the 2.41 million people who worked, 9.62 percent were in the underemployed category and 23.28 percent were part-time workers. In the past year, half the unemployed fell by 2.15 points and part-time workers rose by 0.86 points.
